Peer Review Process
- Review Model
Jurnal Studi Tafsir implements a double-blind peer review system, in which both the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure objectivity and fairness throughout the evaluation process.
- Review Process Stages
Each submitted manuscript undergoes the following stages:
- Initial Screening
- The editor conducts a preliminary assessment of the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s focus and scope
- The screening includes:
- Originality and plagiarism check
- Compliance with the journal template and guidelines
- Initial academic quality assessment
Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements will be rejected without further review (desk rejection).
- Reviewer Assignment
- Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers
- Reviewers are selected based on their expertise relevant to the manuscript topic
In certain cases, a third reviewer may be assigned.
- Peer Review Evaluation
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- Novelty and scholarly contribution
- Clarity of research problem
- Appropriateness of methodology
- Strength of analysis and argumentation
- Relevance to tafsir studies
- Quality of references and citations
Reviewers provide one of the following recommendations:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
- Editorial Decision
The final decision is made by the editor based on reviewers’ recommendations:
- Accept without revision
- Accept with minor revisions
- Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
- Reject
The editor’s decision is final.
- Revision Stage
- Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewers’ comments
- Revised manuscripts may be:
- Re-evaluated by reviewers
- Or assessed directly by the editor
- Final Decision and Production
- Accepted manuscripts proceed to:
- Copyediting
- Layout editing
- Proofreading
Authors are required to review the final version before publication.
- Review Timeline
- Initial screening: 1–2 weeks
- Peer review process: 3–6 weeks
- Total time to decision: approximately 4–8 weeks
The duration may vary depending on reviewer responsiveness and manuscript quality.

- Refrain from using unpublished materials for personal advantage
