Author Guidelines

  1. General Requirements

Jurnal Studi Tafsir welcomes scholarly contributions that focus on tafsir as an intellectual tradition within Islam. Submitted manuscripts must:

  • Be original and not previously published or under review in another journal
  • Be relevant to the journal’s focus and scope
  • Demonstrate clear academic writing and methodological rigor

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.

  1. Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts:

  • Original research articles
  • Literature reviews
  • Manuscript-based studies
  • Conceptual and interdisciplinary studies
  1. Manuscript Format
  • Length: 6,000–10,000 words
  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Paper size: A4
  • Font: Libre Baskerville, 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  1. Article Structure

Manuscripts should be organized as follows:

  • Title (max. 14 words)
  • Author(s) (name, affiliation, email)
  • Abstract (150–250 words, in English and Bahasa Indonesia)
  • Keywords (3–5 terms)
  • Introduction
  • Findings and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgement (optional)
  • References

  • Use Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition (Full Note / Footnote)
  • Minimum 30 references
  • 60–80% primary sources
  • Prefer recent sources (last 10 years)
  • Use reference managers (Mendeley, Zotero)
  1. Plagiarism Policy
  • Maximum similarity index: 20%
  • Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be rejected or returned
  1. Arabic–Latin Transliteration

Must follow the Indonesian national standard (SKB 1987).

Authors must ensure:

  • Originality of the manuscript
  • No simultaneous submission

  1. AI Usage Policy

Jurnal Studi Tafsir acknowledges the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing; however, their use must be transparent, limited, and responsible.

Authors are required to comply with the following:

  • AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, or similar) may be used only for language improvement, grammar checking, or structural assistance, not for generating core scholarly arguments or data interpretation.
  • AI tools must not be listed as authors under any circumstances.
  • Authors must explicitly disclose the use of AI tools in a separate section (e.g., “AI Assistance Statement”) if such tools significantly contributed to the writing process.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content.
  • Any form of undisclosed AI-generated content that compromises academic integrity may result in rejection or retraction.
  1. Manuscript Template Requirement

All submissions must strictly follow the Jurnal Studi Tafsir template. Manuscripts that do not conform to the template will be returned without review.

The template includes:

  • Pre-defined heading structure
  • Standardized formatting for title, abstract, and keywords
  • Footnote-based citation format (Chicago Style)
  • Reference list formatting
  • Transliteration style for Arabic terms

Key formatting rules in the template:

  • Use footnotes, not in-text citation
  • Italicize Arabic terms with Arabic–Latin Transliteration standard as mentioned in point 7 (e.g., tafsīr, mufassir)
  • Provide full bibliographic details in the first citation
  • Ensure consistency in transliteration
